Be Lake District Kind
As you enjoy 30 Days Wild in the Lake District, be Lake District Kind by planning ahead and exploring responsibly. Know what to pack for your adventures including layers, waterproofs, snacks, and a map. If you’re heading to the water, take time to learn how to stay safe, especially when paddling or swimming. Choose sustainable travel options wherever possible: hop on shuttle buses, cruise across lakes, ride a bike, or take a scenic train. If you're taking the car, use official car parks and avoid blocking gates or road access. Respect the landscape by leaving no trace, take your litter and dog poo home with you, do not light fires or BBQs and keep dogs on leads near livestock. Fly camping by lakesides or in laybys is illegal, wild camping is permitted with the landowner’s permission and is often tolerated if you camp above the highest fell wall and stay for only one night, carrying everything back down with you. A little kindness goes a long way in helping to protect this special place so everyone can keep coming back to enjoy it.
