Filming permissions

The beautiful scenery of the Lake District has inspired production companies and filmmakers to use it as a dramatic backdrop for countless films and TV series.

To obtain filming permission in the Lake District National Park, you need to contact the relevant landowner. You can find out more about who owns the Lake District on our land ownership in the Lake District page.

English Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Lake District is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Awarded inscription in 2017, the National Park is England's largest World Heritage Site and the only one that is also a National Park.
