Active Travel Network Plan
The Lake District National Park Authority secured £100,000 from Active Travel England. This funding was used to develop the Active Travel Network Plan. Read more about Active Travel funding on the GOV.UK website.
The Network Plan is a strategic transport planning tool to guide the development of pedestrian, cycling and wheeling infrastructure across the Lake District National Park. The Network Plan prioritises new active travel routes and improvements and will be used to secure funding opportunities for new routes.
Online mapping consultation
We received over 300 comments and suggestions via our new online mapping platform, plus further reports via email. Thank you to everyone who took time to input your suggestions.
These included:
- New active travel routes you would like to see developed.
- Existing active travel routes that need improvements.
The information you provided will be invaluable in the prioritisation of future active travel projects when funding becomes available. While we can’t guarantee every suggestion will be implemented, your input is crucial in shaping how we improve and maintain trails and footpaths across the Lake District.
Please visit the rights of way webpage below to report a problem on rights of way.
Previously summitted active travel proposals
The map based consultation closed on 15th September, but if you missed it or have further comments please email us at hq@lakedistrict.gov.uk (opens email).
Our next steps will be to evaluate comments already received, have discussions with major stakeholders and look at prioritising the proposals received. We will keep you updated via this web page.
