Influencer Cam Occleston, 23, is now the Lake District National Park Authority’s first ever Brand Ambassador!

Cam is an influencer who first worked with the National Park Authority in 2025, and who will continue to share more messaging around responsible visiting as well as the impacts of fly camping and campfires.

This is part of the National Park Authority’s Lake District Kind campaign, which promotes alternative behaviours and spreads a range of messages such as ‘leave no trace’ and ‘no fires’, both in digital spaces and on the ground in the Park.

Get to know our Cam-bassador

Cam is from Carlisle, which sits to the north of the Lake District National Park. After school, Cam pursued his passion for visual media and studied film at Manchester University.

Since a young lad, I have always had a passion for filmmaking. Me and my friends used to make silly short films growing up and because I am dyslexic, I always found being creative in that way a lot easier and natural to me.

Cam enjoyed his degree, but missed the fells of Cumbria and moved back after graduating, which is when he started to post his own content.

I never really planned on making content for this long. I only really started posting on social media as a creative outlet when I returned home after university. It was the perfect mix of my hobbies, I got to hike in the hills and spend time in nature, whilst also being able to play around with editing software and make videos with the clips I captured out there.

Social media brings challenges to the Lake District by increasing its popularity, but it also presents an opportunity to use it for the right reasons. Cam looks forward to sharing his experiences of the Lake District as well as the importance of how and why we need to protect it.

Getting into making content for the right reasons means your personality and drive for wanting to create comes from the right place, and not just caring about followers and views, which helps with coming across as watchable and honest, which I pride myself on. But this same drive powers me on to want to improve what I make every day.

As the first ever Brand Ambassador, Cam is excited to spearhead this movement of using social media for good.

The Lake District, to me and many others, is the greatest place on earth. To be able to team up with the Lake District National Park Authority on a project like this, is simply mind blowing. I take great pride in my work and couldn’t be happier that I get to use my skills in making a difference to this magical place.

Working with Cam will help to spread the message to more people about how to enjoy the Lake District while helping to protect it. This approach sits alongside our in-person engagement, which involves the work of the Strategic Visitor Management Group (SVMG) and Rangers who join patrols and regularly engage with visitors and communities across the National Park.
