How we handle your application data

We value your trust and take your privacy seriously. When you apply for a role with us, we collect and use certain personal information to manage your application and recruitment journey. This page explains what data we collect, why we need it, and how we keep it safe. Our goal is to make sure you feel informed and confident about how your information is handled every step of the way.

The Lake District National Park and Webrecruit are the data controllers for personal data you provide during the recruitment process.

We collect personal data you provide directly, including:

  • Identifiers: name, contact details (email, phone, address)
  • Qualifications & Experience: CV, cover letter, skills, employment history, education
  • Demographic Information: date of birth, entitlement to work in the UK, disability status, diversity and equal-opportunity data
  • Assessment Records: interview notes, test results, references, background-check information
  • Third-party Information: references from previous employers, criminal record checks

We obtain your data directly through your applications, CVs, interview and assessment notes. We also obtain your data indirectly through third parties such as referees, recruitments agencies or screening services such as Disclosure and Barring Service if it is necessary for the job.

We have a legal obligation and legitimate interest to:

  • Manage the recruitment process and assess your suitability for the role
  • Communicate with you regarding your application
  • Verify eligibility to work in the UK
  • Comply with legal obligations, such as health & safety or equal-opportunity monitoring

 

Where provided (for example health conditions, ethnicity), we process this only with your explicit consent or where it is required for legal reporting, and always in compliance with UK GDPR legislation.

We may share your personal data with Webrecruit who are data processors under our instruction. We may also share your data with third parties for the purpose of carrying out references, health and background checks.

For unsuccessful candidates, personal data is stored securely up to 12 months after the recruitment has completed. Unsuccessful applicants will receive an email form Webrecruit to confirm this.

Successful candidates will have their data transferred to the Lake District National Park’s employee records in line with our recruitment and employee processes.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)individuals have several legal rights regarding their personal data, including the right to:

    • Access, correct, erase or restrict their data
    • Object to processing in certain circumstances
    • Lodge a compliant with the Information Commissioner’s Office, ICO.
