Dave is a graduate of Leeds and Leicester universities with almost 40 years of professional archaeological experience, beginning with excavation supervision and management in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire before joining English Heritage 1993. Having served as an Inspector in the Monuments Projection Programme and later the Historic Characterisation team, he transferred to the Archaeological Survey and Investigation team in 2007, latterly taking charge of its successor, Historic England’s Landscape Archaeology Team.
He is a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists. He has published widely, ranging from detailed site investigations to methodological approaches.
