A new information service offering advice and support to those exploring the Lake District has opened in Booths, Keswick.
A dedicated counter by the exit of the local supermarket will be staffed by Lake District National Park Authority employees between 10am and 4pm every day.
Sarah Calderbank, Head of Communications and Engagement at the National Park Authority, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Booths to provide Keswick with this information service. Our warm, friendly staff are experts in supporting both people who are new to the area and seasoned visitors. The exit of Booths is a great location to help those who are shopping before heading on an exciting Lake District adventure.
“Information service staff will encourage people to explore the beautiful landscape, connect with its vibrant communities and help protect it by being Lake District Kind and leaving no trace. They’ll be sharing their excellent knowledge of local routes, activity facilities and important safety advice, whether heading up the fells or out onto the water.”
The pop up will be trialled throughout summer until the end of October, after which its success will be reviewed ahead of next year. Friendly staff will be wearing National Park Authority branded clothing, and there is also a range of useful leaflets available for additional information.
Matt Welsh, Store Manager at Booths Keswick, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome the Lake District National Park Authority team to Booths and to support this new service for Keswick. Tourism is hugely important to the town and the wider Lake District, supporting so many local businesses and communities.
“As a business with strong roots in the region, we’re proud to play our part in welcoming visitors and helping them get even more from their time in one of the country’s most iconic destinations.”
