The Buttermere shuttle bus from Cockermouth started its 2026 season on 2 May 2026 and will run until 31 August 2026.

The shuttle bus runs Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

e – operates Monday to Saturday except public holidays 23 March – 1 November

Connecting bus services

From Cockermouth and Buttermere

  • From Workington you can catch the X4/5 which runs to and from Cockermouth hourly.
  • From Buttermere you can catch the 77/77A to Keswick, via Whinlatter and Honister.

Useful information

  • Catch the bus from Main Street Cockermouth, East bound bus stop – just turn up!
  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome aboard.
  • 23 seater mini-bus with easy access and space for one wheelchair.
  • Drop off and pick up in between marked bus stops where safe to do, let the driver know.
