Welcome to the new Lake District National Park Authority website

You may have noticed some significant changes to the look and feel of our website, but don’t worry, we guarantee the information you’re looking for is still only a few clicks away!

Our new website is user-friendly, accessible, and interactive, so everyone can easily navigate around and find information (while learning something new about the Lake District National Park along the way).

Top tips for navigating our website

The main areas of our new website bring together everything you need to know about how the Lake District National Park Authority cares for this spectacular place. You can dive into detailed information about the Authority itself and the many partnership projects happening across the National Park, giving you a clearer picture of how we work with local communities, organisations, and volunteers.

You’ll also find dedicated sections explaining how we’re protecting nature and habitats, from restoring peatlands to supporting species recovery and building a more climateresilient future for the Park. If you’re planning a visit, you can explore the different areas of the National Park and get practical advice to help you make the most of your time here while enjoying the area safely and responsibly.

For anyone interested in planning matters, our planning section provides easy access to applications, guidance, and policies. You can also read about the strategies that shape how the Park is managed, including longterm plans and policies that guide our decisionmaking. If you’re curious about the Lake District’s World Heritage Site status, there’s a dedicated area explaining the inscription and what it means for the landscape. And of course, if you need help or want to speak to someone, our Contact Us page makes it simple to get in touch.

Five things to explore while you’re here

1. Start by clicking the Explore map in the topright corner. This is an interactive way to get your bearings, discover key locations, and learn more about the landscapes, villages, and routes across the National Park. It’s a great starting point whether you’re planning a day out or simply want to understand the geography of the area.

2. Take a moment to browse our latest news and blogs, where you’ll find stories from across the Park, updates on conservation work, behindthescenes insights, and features that highlight the people who help care for this special place.

3. If you’re looking for an accessible adventure, explore our 50 Miles without Stiles routes. These carefully designed paths are found all across the National Park and offer stile-free routes with a mix of scenery and habitat, including woodland, lake shores, historic sites and fell summits. The routes are suitable for families, wheelchair users, and anyone who prefers a gentler route.

4. Our Learning section is full of resources for schools, educators, and curious minds of all ages. Here you’ll find curriculumlinked materials to opportunities for outdoor learning and group visits.

5. While you’re exploring, discover how you can be Lake District Kind. Simple actions and thoughtful choices can help protect the landscape, support local communities, and ensure the National Park remains a place for everyone to enjoy.

Happy navigating!
