• Leading and inspiring the young people throughout their volunteering experience.
• Supervising and supporting the young people, taking responsibility for the group’s health and safety.
• Working alongside DNPA and partner organisation staff to plan and facilitate young ranger sessions.
• Communicating with the Volunteer Outreach Coordinator to plan and feedback on sessions.
• Ensuring Young Ranger sessions are inclusive and supportive for the participants.
The Young Rangers usually meet once a month, on a Sunday. Our Young Ranger Leader volunteers are asked to coordinate availability to cover the monthly sessions. There may also be a need to attend relevant training and meetings throughout the year. This equates to a time commitment of around 6 volunteering duties a year.
- Outdoor skills and experience, and a suitable level of fitness.
- Experience leading groups.
- Confident in communicating with a range of people, including young people.
- IT skills; comfortable with use of email for communication and simple spreadsheets & word processors.
- An awareness of health and safety.
Ongoing training and support will be provided by the Volunteers Service. Training sessions will include:
• Outdoor leadership skills
• First Aid
• Navigation
• Safeguarding
• Learning about the National Park

We will be selecting volunteers based on their experience and skills, enthusiasm for the role, and their availability. Please ensure that you give as much detail as possible when applying.
We also require an enhanced DBS check for all of our Young Ranger Leaders; this is provided by the LDNPA following your volunteering induction.
