Landscape Character Assessment

The Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) seeks to provide a framework for developing a shared understanding of the current character of the Lake District’s landscapes and its future management needs.

It was developed for everyone with an interest in the future management of the Park – including residents, businesses, visitors,
students, national and local agencies, farmers and other land managers.

It can be used as an inspirational source of ideas and guidance to help encourage locally appropriate management and use of land in ways that conserve valued features of the landscape.
