General conditions
1. As the person paying for the permit, you are over the age of 18 years.
2. You will not do anything that is illegal or which may cause damage to any property or become a nuisance, annoyance, inconvenience or disturbance to us or any other user of any neighbouring property. Copies of the byelaws are available on the LDNPA’s website [insert link]. You will not interfere with others’ enjoyment of the lake and surrounding area.
3. You will make sure that you do not deposit or leave any waste, rubbish, soil or any other material in, on or around the lake. This includes unwanted fishing tackle.
4. You will keep to footpaths around the lake and not walk through, fish from or land boats in reed beds or wetlands.
Permits
5. Permits can be purchased online or in person at the counter. [JW1.1]The permit is personal to you and you may not assign or otherwise transfer the benefit of it.
6. Your credit or debit card details will be requested to purchase your ticket(s). If booking online, your credit or debit card details will be requested to complete your purchase and a “print-at-home” permit will be generated. Full payment, as itemised, shall be debited.
7. You will ensure that you have your permit with you at all times and will produce your permit at the request of a Lake Warden or Bailiff upon such person providing evidence of their identity issued by the Lake District National Park Authority.
8. The permit remains the property of the Lake District National Park Authority and can be withdrawn at any time from anyone failing to comply with these terms and conditions.
Liability
9. Water based activities can be considered inherently dangerous activities with a risk of personal injury or death. You and any members of your group should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for your own actions and involvement. We will not be liable for any personal injury or death caused as a result of your undertaking activities under this permit.
Fishing
These further conditions apply to Fishing Permits.
10. An Environment Agency rod licence is required in addition to this permit all current Environment Agency Byelaws apply.
11. Fishing is limited to 2 rods per permit and a maximum of 4 rods (2 permits).
12. No freshwater fish may be used as live or dead bait and no maggots to be used between 14 March and 16 June.
13. No transfer of live fish is permitted.
14. No night fishing is permitted.
15. All coarse fish are to be returned alive to the lake with careful handling. All coloured salmon are to be returned and the catch and release of salmon is encouraged. Anglers may kill only 2 salmon in a day. All further fishing must be with barbless hooks, no bait fishing and the fish returned.
16. The use of barbless hooks and landing mats are preferred. Lead weights are not permitted.
17. The river section at Ouse Bridge is closed all season to fishing during the salmon closed season.
Boats, dinghies, canoes and kayaks
These further conditions apply to Boating Permits.
18. Peel Wyke is available for launching boats and canoes. There are no other launching points for trailered boats. Non-trailered boats and canoes, dinghies and kayaks may be launched from the LDNPA’s car parks at Beck Wythop and Powter Howe. Launching from or landing on land not owned by the LDNPA is prohibited unless the explicit consent of the landowner has been sought.
19. No boating zones are marked by white-topped posts on the shoreline and are shown on the map attached to these terms and conditions and posted on signs at launching points.
Groups
These further conditions will apply when applying for an organised group permit.
20. As you have purchased the permit on behalf of the group, you are deemed to be the designated responsible adult and will take responsibility for ensuring compliance with these terms and conditions.
