Miles without stiles challenging route, 1.75km distance

A short, low-level, waymarked trail starting at the visitor centre, that takes you under some of the oldest trees in Grizedale, home to the Go Ape course, and past some of the forest’s famous sculptures.

This short, low level route from the main Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre takes you through some of the oldest trees in Grizedale and under the Go Ape course.

This route is provided and maintained by Forestry England. Please see Millwood trail – short loop at Grizedale | Forestry England for further details, including any forestry operations affecting the route. Please note that only the “short loop” section meets accessible Miles Without Stiles standards.

Unfortunately there is currently no public transport to Grizedale. The nearest bus stop is in Hawkshead where there is a regular service 7 days a week.
