Susan was Secretary of ICOMOS UK between 2002-2024 but continues her association with ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) and ICOMOS UK including as World Heritage Adviser (outside of the UK), 2003-present. She was Historic Buildings Representative, North West Region and National Cultural Landscape Adviser and Strategic Adviser, National Trust 1982-2002.

Susan has worked in and advised world heritage sites across the world and in UK and has extensive knowledge of both ICOMOS and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation)
