Phil has a geology degree (1975) and a career as an engineering geologist and in the nuclear sector. He also undertakes UK and international consultancy. See https://www.linkedin.com/in/phil-davies/

Phil is a past president of Cumberland Geological Society and is currently Council Secretary. He is the author of papers on Lake District Geology ‘Geology in the Lake District National Park.’ He is active in U3A geology, in Cockermouth and an occasional speaker. He also leads geological field trips. Phil is keen on using the Lake District as a great place to experience geology and to include thinking about the geology as part of the overall experience of the Lake District. He is currently leading a small ad hoc research group investigating the geological history of Skiddaw Group strata in the northern Lake District. The importance of the Lake District to the development of scientific thought merits a mention.
