As a geographer, Lois has spent 30 years exploring upland agriculture and its relationships with other land users. Her current research interests focus on multiple capitals approaches to managing upland landscapes where agricultural systems are marginal in character. As well as her consultancy, she is currently supporting the Lake District National Park Partnership with the monitoring of their current Partnership plan and the new 2026-2031 plan, as well as working on a 5-year international project funded by the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature Japan to develop resilience within High Nature Value and Satoyama (the zone between mountain foothills and agricultural flat land) systems.
Lois is the Specialist Advisor Liaison, providing a link between the Specialist Advisors and the Lake District National Park Partnership, including the World Heritage Site Steering Group for the English Lake District.
