Accessible for All: Enjoy the Lake District with Ease

We want everyone to experience the beauty of the Lake District, whatever their needs. From all-terrain mobility scooters and wheelchairs to accessible routes and facilities, we’re here to help make your visit enjoyable and stress-free.

Discover mobility scooter hire at Whinlatter Forest and Langdale, National Trust trampers at Tarn Hows, and wheelchair hire at Fell Foot. Brockhole offers free electric wheelchair use and a Brockmobile service for easier access. Need a transportable scooter? Shopmobility can help. Outdoor Mobility mobility scooter hire

Outdoor Mobility has two locations where you can hire an all-terrain mobility scooter for half a day, with a route to explore. See Lake District Mobility website for routes at Whinlatter Forest and  Langdale estate.

National Trust tramper and wheelchair hire

  • National Trust has a tramper to hire,  at the idyllic Tarn Hows - complete with a circular route of the tarn which is accessible for all and under 2 miles long.
  • National Trust has an all-terrain wheelchair to hire at Fell Foot a park site on the very southern shore of Windermere.
  • Fell Foot also has the first Changing Places facility, a full changing room with height adjustable bench and hoist for those with complex needs.

Brockhole - Wheelchair use

Brockhole on Windermere provides:

  • free use of electric wheelchairs for use in the gardens
  • Free use of wheelchairs to use indoors
  • the 'Brockmobile' electric people carriers to transport people from jetty and car park to visitor centre
  • there's no booking charge but we do ask for proof of identification for security reasons - either a credit card, driver's licence or copy of a household bill.

Shopmobility - hire of mobility scooters

Transportable mobility scooters can be hired for use whilst on holiday in the National Park. Because of insurance issues unfortunately they can't be hired on a hourly or daily basis. Please contact them directly for more details:
