Information Centre Volunteers

Based in our information centres at Ullswater, Keswick, Coniston, Hawkshead and Bowness-on-Windermere, our Information Centre Volunteers help provide a friendly and informative welcome to all visitors to the Park.

We are currently recruiting volunteers at our Information Centres in Keswick, Coniston and Bowness-on-Windermere.

What will I be doing?

Our Information Centre Volunteers:

  • Welcome a diverse range of people to the Lake District National Park and act as LDNPA ambassadors.
  • Provide advice and assistance to visitors on a range of topics.
  • Help visitors find the information they’re looking for.
  • Work with the Information Centre staff team to ensure a great customer experience and efficient running of the Centre.
  • Contribute towards the sale of a range of local products in the Information Centre shops.

What skills do I need?

This role will suit you if you are:

  • Passionate about the Lake District National Park.
  • A good communicator and enjoy speaking with a wide range of people.
  • Knowledgeable about the Lake District and willing to learn more.
  • Able to work as part of a team.

How often will I need to volunteer?

We ask for a minimum commitment of 12 days per year and recommend that volunteers undertake regular shifts to keep their knowledge up to date. Most Information Centre Volunteers carry out whole day duties, however half duties can be discussed with the Volunteers Team.

What training will I receive?

We provide a volunteer induction and ongoing training and support throughout your time volunteering with the LDNPA. New Information Centre volunteers follow a period of shadowing existing volunteers and staff to help build confidence and knowledge.

How do I apply?

We will be selecting volunteers based on their experience and skills, enthusiasm for the role, and their availability. Please ensure that you give as much detail as possible when applying.
