We work to look after the Lake District. We are a not-for-profit organisation, so money spent at any of our attractions or shops goes back to helping the National Park. We keep footpaths and cycleways in good condition and are working to create more. We help farmers plant trees, increase biodiversity and mitigate climate change. We run free guided walks and maintain accessible routes for the people with mobility needs. The support from running our commerical activities helps us do more.
You can also donate to the Lake District Foundation, the official charity for the National Park that funds projects from protecting red squirrels and planting more hedgerows to improving water quality in the lakes. We often work on projects with the Lake District Foundation, so supporting them helps support our work too.

Full days of fun for all the family. Have an action packed day of archery, Tree Tops and our amazing adventure playground. Take boats out on the lake and picnic in the grounds. Or have a calmer, crafty day with art and craft classes and food and drink at The Gaddum Kitchen Cafe.
Take to the water on our range of hire boats, from self-drive motor boats to single and double kayaks and paddleboards. Set on the shore of Coniston Water, with Coniston Old Man towering over the lake and Bluebird cafe serving lunches, snacks and of course ice creams!
Hire a mountain bike or electric hybrid bike, for half or a full day. Explore quiet traffic-free tracks with our suggested routes, cycle into stunning Landgale valley with no parking issues! Book bike hire from Waterhead in Ambleside, Hawkshead or Coniston Boating Centre - support sustainable transport in the Lake District.
Our information centres are a great place to stock up on knowledge, as well as books, maps and locally sourced gifts. Our staff want to help you have the best time discovering the Lake District and can give you great advice, as well as great sustainable products.

We run a number of car parks and toilets around the National Park. Some are free, and some are charged. We also sell annual permits for our car parks. And in Coniston, Grasmere and Glenridding we have charge points for electric cars in our car parks.
