Despite the current Covid-19 situation making group learning difficult, the Learning Team at the Lake District National Park Authority’s visitor centre, Brockhole, is looking at new ways of delivering school workshops.
In partnership with United Utilities, a free half day workshop for schools is available to help pupils understand more about how important water is for both people and landscape in the Lake District.
Sarah George, Brockhole’s Learning and Engagement Activity Leader said: “We fully understand that we can’t visit some schools to do these sessions and that other schools are hesitant about trips at the minute, so we’ve managed to create new ways of delivering top quality education while keeping everyone safe.
“We’re happy to discuss individual requirements with schools to see how we can best help them. We can visit the school to deliver the workshop in a covid-secure way, or if preferred, we can do it by video call.”
Working in partnership with United Utilities, the Learning and Engagement team offer these free half day Water Workshops for Cumbrian Schools in the Allerdale and Copeland area.
The workshop is ideally suited to Key Stage 2 pupils and fits with many National Curriculum learning outcomes in both Science and Geography as well as Maths and English. Sessions cover:
