Volunteers are needed to help clean up Drigg as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean next Saturday (17 Sep). Join Lake District National Park Area Ranger, Rec Cathey, from 9.45am at Drigg beach with litter pickers and bin bags to record and clean up shoreline litter.
Rec says: “It’s all part of the nationwide Great British Beach Clean involving thousands of people around our coasts. We’ll provide bin bags, litter pickers and gloves, people just need to bring a packed lunch, lots of water and clothing for all weather. We’ll finish at 2pm with a cuppa and some cake! Please feel free to bring friends and family along too.”

Beachwatch is the Marine Conservation Society national beach cleaning and litter surveying programme - helping people all around the UK to care for their coastline. Some of our best-loved marine wildlife is under threat from the waste and litter in our seas, with hundreds of species accidentally eating or becoming entangled in litter. It's also dangerous for people and damaging to our tourism and fishing industries. We all have a part to play in turning the tide on litter and keeping our great British beaches beautiful.
