The Lake District National Park has now completed the sale of Blea Brows, Coniston to The Rawdon Smith Trust charity. This is an ideal new owner who will care for the land in a sympathetic manner and will continue to provide access for the enjoyment of the wider public.
This land was listed as an Asset of Community Value by South Lakeland District Council in 2015 which gave a preferential purchasing option to community groups. As no community group expressed an interest, we were able to enter discussions with and agree a sale of Blea Brows to the Rawdon Smith Trust.
This is part of the Lake District National Park’s ongoing sales and acquisitions review to ensure we are holding on to the right pieces of land for the right reasons and to release funds for reinvestment and other improvements in the park.
