We are disappointed with the announcement by National Grid, which is contrary to our favoured route for the new electrical connection across Cumbria.
Our priority now is to fully understand the detail of what is being proposed, but we are clear that the on-land route in the southern part of the National Park will present challenges to managing this special landscape.
This needs to be understood by the developer. We are fully committed to work with them to see what can be achieved
