As a public authority we publish our equality schemes. We have created one scheme that includes all the different strands about equality from disability to transgender issues. Our Joint Equality Scheme sets out our aims and objectives for promoting equality and diversity. We also include an action plan in each section which states how we will achieve them.
As part of the general and public sector duties as stated in the Equality Act we want to eliminate unlawful discrimination. If you feel you have been a victim of a hate crime based on your race, sexual orientation, faith, belief or disability please report it online to Cumbria Constabulary.
In 2012 we assessed ourselves against the Developing Level of the Equality and Diversity Framework for Local Government and have had the assessment approved by our Joint Equality Group.
